Four hours.
Many sides of the Faroes.

Kirkjubøur · living history by the Atlantic
01

Views beyond Tórshavn

Climb above the capital for sweeping perspectives across valleys, fjords and the weather-shaped Faroese landscape.

02

Living history in Kirkjubøur

Visit the islands’ historic and cultural heart, where medieval heritage and present-day village life meet.

03

A closer look at the capital

Return for a guided walk through old Tórshavn—turf-roofed houses, narrow lanes and stories by the harbour.

Planned route

A journey from the heights to the harbour.

The route is designed to reveal different layers of Faroese life in one unhurried afternoon. Stops may adapt to local weather and conditions.

  1. Panoramic viewpoints

Begin with a scenic drive above Tórshavn and an introduction to the landscape that shapes life on the islands.

  2. Kirkjubøur

Pause in one of the Faroe Islands’ most important historic settlements, framed by sea and mountains.

  3. Norðradalur

Continue through the dramatic western landscape—with a chance to spot the distinctive Faroese horses along the way.

  4. Historic Tórshavn

Finish on foot among the old town’s red buildings, grass roofs and intimate lanes.
